Since Square Plugin update to 2.2.0 and later (2.2.1 and 2.2.2 versions) we get a lot of Failed payments. In backend in order information we see just:
Square Payment Failed (Status code GENERIC_DECLINE: Authorization error: ‘GENERIC_DECLINE’) Order status changed from Pending payment to Failed.

Customers at frontend see just: An error occurred, please try again or try an alternate form of payment

They trying and trying and just leaving the site.
All data is correct it’s seems like something wrong with processing stability or API.

Please resolve ASAP it’s hurts us a lot.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi there!

In backend in order information we see just:
Square Payment Failed (Status code GENERIC_DECLINE: Authorization error: ‘GENERIC_DECLINE’) Order status changed from Pending payment to Failed.

I’m not exactly sure what could be causing this as of now, but we’d be glad to further investigate. Can you please follow the steps below and get back to us with the required information so that we can further troubleshoot this?

    1. System Status Report:

You can find it via WooCommerce > Status.
Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.? Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

    2. Square Logs:

There’s a built-in logging system enabled in the Square extension that could help you determine the cause of this behavior. If you haven’t enabled this already, you can enable this in (WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > Square) :

    sq-logs
    Link to image: https://d.pr/i/GX6qLH

Once enabled, this logs the transactions and errors in WooCommerce > Status > Logs > Search for? Square credit logs in the drop-down at the top-right section and click on view button. Please copy the logs you’re seeing and paste them as a response to this topic.

This will help us track where the problem lies. Note that we will only be able to view logs for actions performed after logging has been enabled. So we wouldn’t be able to track behavior via log if that occurred before enabling logs for the same.

This means, you’ll need to enable logging, attempt to make a test order, get back to us with the exact error you’re seeing on the front end, as well as the logs.

[Please redact any private details, including address, name, email address, transaction details, API Keys, Passwords, etc]

Thank you for working with us on this.

This is also happened to me. it does not show what wrong in checkout. only admin can see the log in order notes.

Thank you for helping, but we decide switch back to previous more stable version.

    Hi there @cbddotmarket,

I’m sorry to hear that you had to switch to the previous version to get the issue fixed.

If you’re still having logs for the orders which failed with (Status code GENERIC_DECLINE: Authorization error: ‘GENERIC_DECLINE’ error, I’d be happy to take a look.

They are located in WooCommerce > Status > Logs > square_credit_card log files.. Please remove any sensitive and personal data from there and share via pastebin.com.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Hi there @cbddotmarket,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
