Have followed the user guide exactly but each time I try to make the connection I get this error:

“The application you’re trying to use has made an invalid request to Eventbrite. Please contact the application developer.”

I click on Keyring > Eventbrite > login on Eventbrite > error message

Have deleted and re-installed the plugins. Tried creating a new API key in Eventbrite. Not sure what else to try.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

  • Hi there!

This error message suggests that the API key generated on Eventbrite does not have the correct application URL provided. Could you try creating a new API key once again following the exact steps here?

To err on the side of caution, I would also recommend disabling all other plugins on your site while trying to make this connection. That way we can rule out plugin conflict as well.

Please let me know how that works for you, and we can go from there!

    Hi Ryan

I’ve gone through the entire process again to the letter, created a completely new API key, deactivated every plugin except Keyring and Eventbrite API. Same error ??

“The application you’re trying to use has made an invalid request to Eventbrite. Please contact the application developer.”

Not sure what to do next. Can you help?

    Cheers, Carly

    Hi Carly,

It’s possible you may have a database value stuck from the first attempt; fully deleting both plugins (not just deactivating) may help. The other thing I can think of would be to just make sure that the correct numbers are being entered in the right places in step 7 of the install docs; a mismatch there could cause that error. Let us know how that goes.

Hi Carly, did that solve the issue for you?

    Hi Ryan

I’m afraid it still doesn’t work for me. Completely deleted both plugins, reinstalled, reconfigured. Followed the procedure exactly (and correct values for API key etc). Still get same error.

    Hi Carly,

If you can send some admin login info (for your WordPress site), I’ll see if I can sort it out for you.

    Hi Carly,

It doesn’t look like we’ve received anything from you – are you still having these issues?

Hi, still cannot get this to work! I’ve been away a few days so this is the first opportunity to reply, sorry.

Have tried on a new domain / clean installation / new EB App and API key etc.

Now when I try to authorise I land on the EB login page (even though I’m already logged in to EB in another tab) and after logging in I get bounced to the “create event” page. I don’t even get the previous error msg.

I’m emailing you at the email address you previously suggested. Really hope you can help!

    Best

    Hi Carly,

Got your login info, thanks. I was able to log in, create a connection with no issues while logged into my own EB account, add an Eventbrite page, add the template, and get events without issue. So you’re right, you’ve got everything set up properly on your WordPress site, but for some reason, there’s something weird with your EB account.

Now when I try to authorise I land on the EB login page (even though I’m already logged in to EB in another tab) and after logging in I get bounced to the “create event” page. I don’t even get the previous error msg.

That’s weird. I would start by just making sure that you’re still logged in to EB (it hasn’t expired somehow since opening that tab). And you only have one EB account? If you’re logged in to EB, you won’t get that prompt to log in when making a connection.

Can you send us the email for your EB account? I’ll pass it along to our EB support so they can make sure there’s nothing wrong with it on their end.

    Hi,

Eventbrite has let us know that the forwarding problems happening with non-.com accounts should be all fixed now; can you give it another try?
