Authoring tool with image upload?

Folks, I wonder whether any of you can suggest anything. I’m going to be on the road in the US for a while during the summer, and I want to blog my experiences, including uploading pictures.

The kind of places I’ll be staying, we usually have to use dialup from a creaky old motel phone, and the ISP POP isn’t always local, so I find it’s better to compose my entry offline then dial in and upload. Hence I’ve been looking at blogging tools such as w.bloggar and ecto (I’m on Windows).

In the past I’ve developed a writing methodology whereby I write in Mozilla Composer. I drag and drop images from Windows Explorer thumbnail view. A stylesheet means these are displayed as thumbnails. Once I finish, I save the file, then I run a script which parses the HTML, tidies it up, adds navigation bars, creates proper thumbnails and web-sized versions from the images, and places the whole lot in a directory for FTP upload.

Basically I’m looking for a tool that will let me do something similar, but ends up uploading to WP.

Thumbnailing is a done deal: IImage Gallery looks fine.

So all I really need is:

• WYSIWYG editor, including embedded images
• When I hit “post”, post *and* images get upload

I don’t usually want WYSIWYG, but in this case, seeing the pictures among the text helps me write.

The tools I’ve looked at all seem to want to upload images *before* including them in the post. This doesn’t work with my thought process ??

Does anyone have any recommendations? If not I’ll just have to fix my existing hokey script to upload to WP.
