Author Search Problems

    I am running WP 3.8 with Co-Authors Plus 3.0.6:

    Thanks for developing such a useful plugin.

    I have a database with with about 130,000 user accounts. When I try to search for an author I can’t tell if it is just taking a long time because of the high column of users or if something is broken.

    Searching for an author is very slow and usually finds the same three or four authors but never others.

    When searching I am searching by display_name.

    I’d really like to take advantage of the benefits your plugin offers.

    Do you know what might be causing the problem I am having?

    Of the 130,000 users about 9,000 have the user role author. Could we limit the search somehow to the subset of author only? Would that solve my problem?

  • I’m having the same problem with just 140 users, It have to be something else…

    Same problem here with roughly 200 users. When searching, a number of users just don’t show up in the Co-Author search box, yet they work just fine with Co-Authors disabled.

    It seams to be a “role” and “capabilities” problem. You have to make shure that the users have the capability to write and publish the post type you want to. I’ve been using a plugin to define the user capabilities and mess this up. After check that, Co-authors plus works just fine for me.
