Author not showing with max magazine

I am currently managing a school news publication and I decided to use the max magazine theme because its simplistic yet gets the job done. the only fault i found is that for some reason the authors of posts (articles) aren’t visible anywhere, and I have no clue why. All the previous themes showed the author name, and in the settings I have the “show author” box checked
its very strange. i also showed it to a senior web developer at my school and he couldn’t understand it either
