Author Link Problem in Recent Comments Widget

I’m having some trouble with the canned Recent Comments widget. It seems that when an author changes the URL in their profile, it is not changed on the dynamic sidebar. (…running 2.7.1)

I’ve cleared my browser cache and checked the link in another browser. Both are displaying the old link.

I’ve read that at times, the dynamic sidebar takes a while to update, but I’ve never found that to be the case personally, so I’m wondering if the issue is somewhere else.

Might this have anything to do with how author/comment IDs are handled in the new maintenance package? If so, is there a way to edit the widget itself. A few tutorials have pointed to changing wp_widget_recent_comments($args) in widgets.php, but I can’t find it in the PHP file. I’m thinking the suggestion might only be applicable to an older version.
