Author Dropdown Selection Missing

  • On one of my websites, suddenly the author selection dropdown menu isn’t showing in the Gutenberg edit post screen. I don’t have any option to select it.

    Another site, on the same theme, is fine.

    I tried Health Check’s troubleshooting mode and disabling plugins, but no luck.

    There are multiple users with the publish ability, and I can select the author on the Posts page using Quick Edit.

    May be:
    – You only had one user who was in a user role with the ability to write posts.
    – OR, You are a Subscriber or Contributor — The Subscriber and Contributor roles are the lowest two roles in WordPress. They have the fewest permissions.
