Authentication runs through trusona.net. For a few days, this domain appears to be unreachable. The error I get is this:

gateway.trusona.net’s?DNS address?could not be found. Diagnosing the problem.

The domain not being available is confirmed here:

    https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/trusona.net

Oddly, I can still access the domain when using Safari, where I have Private Relay set up.

Thanks for sharing your observations, Babak.

We were made aware of this issue yesterday by other international users and our current hypothesis is that this is a DNS anycast issue in some regions. We are working to find the best resolution or workaround for it.

I can confirm that our platform and services are all in fact healthy and this is a networking issue.

We will keep you updated. Thanks again.

    Thanks.

It’s not just iPhone users. Macs also can use Private Relay.

You are right! I’ll update the guidance to iCloud vs. iPhone. Thanks for raising that distinction.

Here’s another workaround: Opera has a built in VPN, which also circumvents the DNS issue.

    Hi,

    This issue is now resolved.

The root cause was a false positive in one of the files used by a DNS service provider.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.
