Hi, this might be related to a conflict with a plugin or your theme. Please carry out the following troubleshooting steps.

Let me know how you go.

    Thanks for your reply.
I tried as suggested disabling the plugins – still won’t work and then tired with the 2023 theme but still won’t play.
Really strange as it work when you preview the download product but not when all the downloads are listed in a page.
Anything else I could try please?

    Many thanks, Jonathan

Hi, did you follow the instructions below to create your download button and also allow the playback of the audio file?

    Kind regards.

    Hi – I use this: [audio src="/preview/RachmaninoffVocaliseViolin.mp3"]

Which is just the standard WP audio player. I mean it’s worked for nearly ten years and then something is obviously stopping it playing on a page of tracks. Thanks

If I try and use the Compact Audio player as in the one in the post you mentioned – the player does not show at all!
As with the WP audio player it works fine when you just ‘view’ the download product but as soon as you try and display the download product in a page or post it fails. Either won’t play or won’t show the player at all.

So something in the ‘Fancy 1’ layout of the product that is fouling things up…?

Hi, I tested this myself in my dev site. The download does work, when I click on the download button the file opens up and plays. If I set the download to open up in a new window it also displays and audio file and plays.

    Kind regards.

Hi, I spoke to the developers about this issue. They will add a fix for this issue related to fancy=”1″. However I don’t know the eta for this fix unfortunately.

    Kind regards.

Thre is no issue with the download button or download or the audio within it that works fine for everyone.

The issue is as descirbed to do with the preview audio player not working.

I have contacted the developer – hopefully they can sort something quickly or we have to find a different way to preview the audio.

The issue is as described to do with the preview audio player not working.

My apologies for not mentioning that the fix is related to the preview. That is exactly what the developers are going to fix.

    Kind regards.

Oh well thank you for letting me know. I wonder if the preview player actually shows unless you are logged in to the site so it may not be showing for non logged in users – but the problem does exist and is a strange one. Hope they get it fixed soon.

Hi – tried the new version of Simple Download Monitor(3.9.19) but still have same issue.
Audio preview works if you view a download post but when on a page using the Fancy 1 template audio preview does not work.
Doesn’t work with WP Audio player of the Condensed Audio Player.
    Any other ideas please?

Hi, I carried out a test myself and it is now working for me. Please follow the instructions I shared above and make sure you use the audio plugin mentioned in the instructions. Also make sure you clear your browser cache.

Let me know how you go.

    Kind regards.

    Strange, def not working here.

Doesn’t work on Chrome or Safari or Mobile.
Have cleared cache on Chrome and Safari.
Can’t change the audio plugin – has to use the WordPress standard audio player – the whole library uses that player and it has always worked fine.

As before it works when you view the download post but not on a page with Fancy 1 – so it’s something to do with the fancy 1 template causing an issue.

    Hi
Thought it might be easier if I made a quick video of what is happening with the audio preview player not working in the Fancy 1 Template with SDM – but workiing fine if you just view the download post.

That’s with everything up to date including latest SDM and cleared caches in Chrome, Safari and Mobile.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
