    Hi there

This plugin (Seriously Simple Plugin) has been working fine now all of a sudden within the last couple of week the audio player has stopped working. We upload mp3 files, as usual, through the podcast editing page and the mp3 doesn’t play this is a little odd.

I installed another plugin (Blubrry), as I couldn’t find the issue and its added another audio player below the original player on the page which work. Obviously this is not a solution as I have to have one podcast plugin instead of 2.

Please let me know of what changes need to be done.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • I’ve got the same problem. If I add a podcast in the podcast page of Seriously Simple Podcast it works fine but if I embed a podcast in an article it will not be shown.

It has worked always fine, before.

It seems that url and data will be not saved correctly in the article because if I publish and then I open the article all data inserted are erased.

Hi @sadelabu in looking at your feed, and in particular episode https://starcomnetwork.net/podcast/evening-edition-79/ I’m seeing an error message that is consistent with what we describe in this article: https://support.castos.com/article/59-podcast-media-will-not-play-anywhere – have you gone through the troubleshooting steps here yet? If so please let us know what steps you’ve taken.

@alvin83 Similarly, have you gone through the troubleshooting steps in that help doc article? If so and you’re still experiencing these issues could you send a link to a non-podcast post type episode that you’re seeing the player issue with?

Thanks for the support. I have tried clearing the cache but the problem remains.

When I try to insert a podcast into a post (within the article page) it doesn’t appear. This happens recently and not always. I noticed in this case that it doesn’t save the url information when we load it. I momentarily loaded the audio as if it were an external player and not a podcast.

If instead I go into the plugin and create a podcast / post it displays it without problems. The information is saved.

Here is the link of the article https://www.unicaradio.it/2020/08/samugheo-murats-museo-unico-regionale-dellarte-tessile-sarda/

This instead another post where it displays correctly.

Could you tell me the problem?

I’m seeing that there are two different styles of media players on both pages there. Are you embedding the player directly using a shortcode or the media file URL directly in the post on one of them? For both of the posts can you confirm that you have a valid media file in the “Podcast Episode Details” metabox below the main post body in the editor? I’m able to play both post’s episode even though the player is different on each of them, so understanding more about what you’re seeing in the post editor or the player not working as expected.

HI @alvin83 just wanted to circle back on this. Were you able to take a look at the episodes and how/why there are multiple player instances there? Let us know how else we can help out from this point.

    Hi @podcastmotor,
I am having the same issue here as initially described and I am hoping to find a solution. I am not a big tech champ, so please be prepared for that.

So I was trying to follow these steps here…

    https://support.castos.com/article/59-podcast-media-will-not-play-anywhere

…and in fact, I had WP Super Cache active, whereas it was set on not caching.

Anyway, I deactivated (not deleted) it, cleared my cache in the browser (Firefox) and tried again. Still, none of the episodes I have (5 by now) are playing when displayed on my website here:

    https://economadia.org/podcast/

It works will in Spotify etc., so it must be something about the SSP plugin.

Is there anything that you can see that I don’t? Most probably yes I guess.
Many thanks in advance for your support!

Hi @travelrebel can you share with us the media file URL that is in the “Podcast Episode Details” area of this most recent episode? When I click through the “Play In New Window” button below the player it takes me through to https://rukkjp.podcaster.de/economadia/05-floasis-as-the-idea-to-better-find-rural-coworking-and-coliving-places-with-lola/ which seems like the post for this episode. Is that right? Should be something ending in .mp3 or another type of media file URL, not the post for the episode.

Hi @podcastmotor, many thanks for your reply!

Here is the URL of the most recent episode:
    https://rukkjp.podcaster.de/download/05_Podcast_Economadia_-_flOasis_Lola.mp3

    Does that help?

Thanks for that. and just to confirm, that media file URL is in the Podcast Episode Details metabox below the main post editor for this most recent episode? Because when I click the “Play In New Window” button below the player it takes me to a post, and not the media file for the episode.

    @podcastmotor
So to get your question right: you’re wondering if the according media file is linked to this most recent episode? Yes, this is the case.

You are right, by clicking on “Play in new window” it gets me to that post, too. And when I try the same with older episodes it doesn’t work at all.

I don’t understand that, as I said before I am not very good with all the technical stuff.
What am I doing wrong here now?

Many thanks again for your help!

    @podcastmotor
I finally found the mistake and understood what you wanted to say. My bad!
Many thanks for your support, highly appreciated!
