• Kubrick theme. I don’t see any template page options drop down menu in the attributes box. How can I select a wide width page if I don’t have the options available to select when creating a page?

  • You need to have at least 1 custom page template in your theme before the page template dropdown will be available.

    As far as I can tell, the theme does have 2 custom pages; archives.php and links.php.

    When you create a custom page template in the add page editor, how do you specify that it is a template?

    You don’t create a custom page template via the add Page Editor. You can only apply an existing template.

    Ok Esmi,
    Let’s get back to the original question about no templates showing up in the Attributes.

    Are archives.php and Links.php considered custom page templates? If so, why are the pages not shown as template options in the page Attributes box?

    Are archives.php and Links.php considered custom page templates

    Yes – I’d say that they sound like custom templates. I’ve created similar page templates myself.

    If so, why are the pages not shown as template options in the page Attributes box?

    Possibly they do not have the identifying comment block at the top of the file? Drop a copy of one of the files into the WordPress pastebin and post the pastebin url here. Perhaps someone will be able to spot the problem and suggest a solution.

    Try to open up “front-page.php” and copy all into new file “index.php”
    That will do the trick ??

    For documentation, my problem was in the name of theme, in style.css. Don’t use special characters, example of my problems:

    Theme Name: ThemeX 2.0 (don’t use “.”)

    or

    Theme Name: Theme ácido Sorb (don’t use accents – “á”)

    Reason: if you use special characters in the name of template in style.css, template page disappears mysteriously of the admin of page.

    In my language is common the use of accents.
    So often the problems are in it.

    Look
    Julio

    <?php
    /*
    Template Name: New Layout
    */
    ?>

    This goes on the top of the new new-layout.php

    If still doesnt work, appearance>themes and reactivate your theme.
    Worked for me ??

    Matus
