Attributes drop down menu doesn't show when I hide the add to cart button

I’m building a website for my retail store and I don’t want customers to be able to buy online through the website. Some products come in various sizes at different prices. I want the attributes drop down menu but it doesn’t work when I select “hide add to cart button” in theme settings – single product page.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
