attributes disappear when updating a product

Hi,

I understand that when updating a product, some attributes are removed.

I tested on my site the same behavior, I am using WooCommerce 7.6.0 and Storefront as the theme. I edited the stock and then the price, and the attributes were not removed:

May I ask how many attributes does the product have? Is this happening with all products with attributes? What exactly is being updated (The price, stock)? Please provide us with more details.

Can you switch the site theme to Storefront temporarily, and then disable all plugins except WooCommerce? At this point, try again to update a product, check if the issue persists, and if not, it means the issue is related to a conflict, you can then switch back the theme, and the rest of the plugins own by one until you find the culprit.

Ok we have tested everything and have found this:

Woocommerce saves all attributes in an array. In this array is everything related to the attributes. If the value for “is_variation” = 0 for all attributes he saves eveything except the first attribute.

The second the process is the same. So again the new first attribute dissapears. This is with our existing products. Our product have between 8 and 12 attributes with a lot of terms.

We import our new products every day or have imported our products in the past.
If I manually put back the same attribute with a term, he saves eveything and the value for “is_variation” = 1
After this everytime I update the product everything is saved nicely.

But if I set the value of this attribute in the database back to 0 the first attribute dissapears again after updating the product.

So is there a way to set one existing attribute to the value “is_varation” = 1 so my products keep all attributes if I update them?

I hope this makes sense to you, and we never had this untill the update to woocommerce 7.6.0 yesterday morning. The sites were we have not updated woocommerce yet have no problem.

Additional: we don’t update the stock or price, we just add some SEO and some extra images. So we don’t touch the attibutes.

And we have disabled all plugins and other themes during testing. We used storefront and only the woocommerce plugin enabled.

I have checked the bug (https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/37761#issuecomment-1526643350) and at the end they mentioned it

The WooCommerce 7.6.1 has been released and should solve this issue. The upcoming 7.7 has also been confirmed to have this fixed.

Make sure you’re using the latest version if you’re still facing the issue with the latest version, then ?per forum best practices shown here, it is advised that you create a new thread so that we can address your issue(s) separately.

And share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.? Once you’ve done that, paste it in your ticket, so we can investigate it further.
