Attachments failed to export / import

    When I export my forums, topics, and replies, the attachments are not included.

    Attachments are commonly used in forums. I use the GD bbPress Attachments plugin to add these to the basic bbPress forum functionality.

    Can the bbPress Import & Export plugin be enhanced at some point to add support for attachments?

    @mhartste: Currently the plugin is not handling attachments by any third party plugins. However, we will look into the enhancement you mentioned.

    Hi Guys –

    I’m guessing … but I suspect there are two steps needed to support the export/import of attachments:

    1) Identifying the attachments and including the link in the .csv file export, then having import restore that link; and
    2) Exporting the files themselves, probably each to separate files, then having import restore these into the Media Library.

    If, as an interim solution, you only did step 1, I could identify and restore the media files manually. This might be a quick partial fix on your part and still allow your tool to be usable with forums that include attachments (which is many of them).

    Longer term, however, it would be great if bbPress Import & Export did the complete job and handled attachments automatically.

    @mhartste: Currently, this plugin works with default bbPress attachments only. However, we will check this to include in the future release.
