• Hi there,

Thanks for creating Phoenix Media Rename plugin. Great help for doing the SEO of my site.

I have a question here: when I rename my image files with this plugin, the permalink of the attachment page (generated by WordPress based on the original file names) remain unchanged.

Is there any way to make it updated together with the new image file name?

    Thanks.

    Hi @acon,
Phoenix Media Rename doesn’t update the attachment’s page permalink because it can be tricky to update all the post that contains a link to that page.

Other than that, usually the themes replaces attachment pages with lightboxes or similar solutions, so that nobody will see the attachment’s page URL.

I will be glad to help you also in updating that URL, do you think this can be important for your SEO policies or for your user experience? I’d rather not do a useless job ??

    Hi @crossi72,

Thanks for your reply. To be honest I don’t know if this will help my SEO because (1) I don’t use the page attachment page URL on any pages or posts. I only use the real image file URL (e.g. mysite/uploads/2021/09/xxxx.jpg) and (2) when someone find (for some reason) and access the page attachment page URL, my SEO plugin will redirect him to the real image file URL above so nothing else will be shown. This move will help my SEO for sure.

The reason I asked this question is just for an aesthetic reason. When I use your plugin to change the file name I’m hoping to see everything getting updated accordingly. ??

    Regards,
