I would like to attach the invoice to the New Order when it is initially sent to the customer. I have set the Template Settings to Attach the pdf to the following emails: New Order & Order on-hold but I am told by customers that they are not getting an invoice. The Create the pdf when the order is: field is set Pending Payment but is this correct? The customer can choose between PayPal (so immediate payment) or Bank Transfer (so after the order is completed and they have processed the invoice).

    Hello!

Are they receiving the email that woocommerce send?

With the configuration that you have the pdf would be attached only to the “New order” and “Order on hold” emails that woocommerce send. Maybe the customer is seeing a different email (perhaps the invoice email)?

    HI,

I managed to (finally) get a copy of the actual email the customer received. Their version has a subject line “Your DWConsulting order has been received!” and the header “Thank you for your order” which I believe is the default setting for the Processing email. So I will change the Template settings to use that email.

I think the problem is that it is a bit unclear (to me) as to just what gets sent and when. Especially what ‘processing’ means: does that mean the email gets sent before I start processing the order or after I finish processing and the order changes to on hold or completed? I think from the information I now have it is the first – so I would say ‘processing’ really means ‘to be processed’

    Thanks anyway!

I see, processing is a woocommerce order status, this means that if the order reach this status the pdf will be created.

Have in mind that there are two different settings which are independent from each others:

Create the pdf when the order is: This will create the pdf (but not send it, just create it) when the order reach the status that you define. This is used if you want to generate a pdf without emailing it.

Attach the pdf to the following WooCommerce emails: This will generate and attach the pdf to the emails that you define here.

So basically the plugin will generate the pdf if the order reach the status that you define in “Create the pdf when the order is” or if it needs to attach it to an email as defined by the setting “Attach the pdf to the following WooCommerce emails”

    Regards!
