Att. Categories in Media Manager

    Hi There,

    Thank you for a great plugin!

    I just have a question about the integration with the Media Manager when you’re adding pictures to a post itself. We have a database of thousands of images and my client wants to categories the images as she uploads them in the post. You have the Att. Categories input box there, but it’s just an input box and not the usual checkboxes like in all the other screens… Is this normal or perhaps something wrong at my end?

    At the moment she’s having to memorise them all and type them out one by one, whereas I think the behaviour you describe is for there to be checkboxes to choose the relevant Att. Categories…

    Thanks for the good words and for a very timely question.

    The “category text box” issue has prompted several earlier support topics and I have been hard at work on an answer. I am happy to say that the next MLA version, due out tonight or over the weekend, will have complete checkbox support in the Media Manager Modal Window.

    I will leave this topic unresolved for now and post an update when the new version goes out. Please let me know how it works for you and if you have any problems with it.

    Great David! Thanks so much! I just updated the plugin and it’s looking good to me!! I imagine it would have taken a while to implement so thanks for doing it!

    Ooh.. I just came to the support forums looking for this information as well. Can’t wait for the update!

    Hey David,

    I have a really weird problem with this update… It’s working perfectly for me in our staging version of the website.

    But I’ve updated it on the live site, and I’m still getting the Textbox instead of the new “Toggle here” where you can toggle the categories in their checkboxes…

    Can you think of the top of your head why that would be the case?

    I’ve tried deactivating and activating the plugin but that doesn’t work. I even copied the plugin from the staging site and transferred it over to the live site… Still the textbox… Seems a bit weird!

    Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks!

    There are a couple of things you can try:

    1. Make sure all the option settings are correct. Go to the Settings/Media Library Assistant General tab and scroll down to the new “Media/Edit Media Enhancements” section. Make sure the “Media/Edit Media Enhancements” option is checked.
    2. In the “Media Manager Enhancements” Section, make sure the “Media Manager Checklist meta boxes” and “Media Manager Flat meta boxes” boxes are checked.
    3. When you go to your Edit Post/Page screen, refresh the page before opening the “Add Media” window. Sometimes (unlikely) the browser will cache an old copy of the scripts and not get the update

    If none of that works, do you know how to use Firebug or IE Developer Tools to verify that the new code and HTML are getting loaded?

    I don’t remember doing that on the staging site so I’m so sorry about that! That has solved my issue.
