Atahualpa image uploads

I recently updated my webpage to the latest Atahualpa version, and all my photos from the theme disappeared; I can no longer log onto the FTP server to change the theme photos. My main question is this: why can I add photos to posts or menus without going on the server, but I can’t add photos for the banner images or other theme images? Very clunky design…
