• I initially contacted filester because my security plugin alerted me of a publicly exposed file, and after a security scan, the files became unhidden. My host doesn’t allow FTP for file management, and my security hardening plugin says to protect my files and set the proper permissions using FTP. So I had to find a workaround; after researching plugins, Filester appeared to offer a point-and-click solution.

Filester’s reply was timely and explained the following; see their response below in case you missed this offering during your research as I did.

Whilst using Filester plugin, your files are totally safe away from the public.

That field is only there to set what Admins of the site can access when using the file manager.

By the way, they fixed the issue I initially contacted them about; my files are no longer becoming unhidden after the security scan. Having automatic hidden files from the public and hiding my files in my dashboard, beats FTP file management – proper permission settings, etc. (my opinion). Who wants to take the chance of messing with your files and messing something up if you don’t have to?
