Astra theme does not show single posts contents

  • For several months I’ve been using Astra but not frequently adding new posts. A few days ago I became aware that posts that were created while other themes were previously active on the site were not showing on the single pages. All that displayed was the title, the post meta and the featured image.

    It also displays images positioned on pages as well as other inserts, for example tables but not the body text of the articles. The link here is an example of a post that is empty save for the title, meta and images.

    The inspector in Firefox shows that the <p> element has css “display: none” applied. This is not so with other themes.

    I was also unable to preview other installed themes but it turns out that was related to an active advertising plugin. When I disabled the offending plugin and was again able to preview other themes, it became apparent that the text that did not display on the screen in Astra, showed fine with other themes.

    Viewing the Astra page source, I am able to see the text that is not visible on the displayed page. On activating other themes, such as Twenty Twenty-one, all content is visible.

    This is frustrating because posts that I have created in the block editor with Astra installed all display as expected.

    Sorry about that. I’ve reactivated Astra so you can see the issue. I had activated a simple theme to make all posts visible.

    Hi @starapple,

    I check your site and the theme is not Astra, perhaps you already switched back.

    Please try to switch the theme back to Astra then deactivate all of the plugins and see if the issue gets solved. Then reactivate the plugins one by one until you notice the issue comes back. The last plugin you just reactivate is the culprit.

    If your site is a live production site, I would suggest you do this on a staging site environment.

    I just applied the Astra update, activated the theme and checked if the problem remained and it did so I reactivated an old theme and evetything works fine as do all other installed themes when I preview them in the customizer.

    I’ll just stick with what is working for now until I can set up a test site to play with plugins. Right now Astra is the theme not playing well with my setup.
