Assume Ownership of Plugin

I came across this plugin and realized it is no longer maintained. I’d like to discuss taking over the plugin to keep it updated and keep developing on it.
I want to do so for two reasons. 1) I am in need of a similar plugin and was going to build one, until I realized this had existed. 2) I want the experience of taking ownership on development of a already developed plugin (i.e. working with someone else’s code).
