Assitance Customizing Church Theme on Multi-Site Using Images

  • Platform: WP Multisite on WP 3.0.1 –using Subdomains
    Theme: Genesis – Church from StudioPress
    Problem: How do I customize and add custom headers/background using “IMAGES” on multiple sub-domains on the WordPress Multi-site platform using Genesis – Church theme?

    The problem I’m finding is that if I change the header image in the main theme, then Site1, Site2, and Site3 all have the same image.

    Goal:     My goal is to be able to showcase a portfolio of site offerings (ie: Site 1, Site 2 and Site 3) on multisite using the same theme, but with different designs & looks.

    Can anyone provide the specific plugins, tools, and steps to do this in the correct way?

    Here is a representation of what I’m trying to do:

  • I thought I answered this.. also StudioPress has a support forum (which you’ve paid to have access to), but the answer is the same: get a css plugin & do it that way.

    I’m assuming you know how to do basic css. Go to each site & make customizations there after installing one of the plugins.

    The problem with your answer is that it’s not really clear.
    Simply getting & installing the CSS plugin doesn’t answer HOW exactly to get it done.

    For example:
    1. If you have an LOGO/Header Image (JPG/PNG/GIF), how do you distinguish between the variety of logos on the same theme?
    2. How do you write the CSS styling code to pull the correct information?
    3. All the links in your example at WPMUTutorials are OUTDATED, and the plugins don’t even work for WordPress Version 3.0.1.

    So, I was hoping for a little more than the: Get a CSS Editor plugin as an answer. The only plugin that is currently compatible and actually stable is: WordPress.com Custom CSS V1.4

    Additionally, I’m sourcing as much information as I can to achieve the correct, detailed answer on this, so I won’t be spinning my wheels looking up the wrong information or doing inefficient processes.

    The problem I and I’m sure other people are having for the scenario I outlined is: HOW to style the CSS for multiple sites using the same THEME. The instructions on WPTUTORIALS, the Custom CSS does not provide that information.

    What are the steps to do this correctly?

    2. You’ve posted the exact same question in multiple forums, both of which I have access to and handle questions like this.

    3. It’s basic css. Works just like the WordPress.com css upgrade feature, and if you installed the plugin, it gives sample code. Like I sad elsewhere, get Firebug to help you find the css needed.

    If you do not know how to write a line of css, you’ll need to learn.
