    Dear Wordfence Support Team,

I am encountering an issue where my site is returning an HTTP 403 error with the message:

This issue seems to be affecting all users, not just a specific IP address. I have noticed that the URL is being redirected to wp-admin/install.php, which might be related to this issue.

As a temporary measure, I was able to access the site via cPanel and have set up a maintenance page to ensure that no one can access the site until the issue is resolved.

Could you please assist in diagnosing the root cause of this block? I am unsure whether this is due to a specific configuration or a potential conflict with other settings.

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Best regards,

    Hello,

I recently posted a message in the support forum, but I forgot to include some important information regarding the issue I’m experiencing. Below is the additional information that should have been included:

    Error Details:

    • Error Message: A potentially unsafe operation has been detected in your request to this site.
    • Access Restriction: Your access to this service has been limited. (HTTP response code 403)
    • Block Reason: A potentially unsafe operation has been detected in your request to this site.
    • Time: Sun, 8 Sep 2024 18:07:50 GMT

I apologize for any confusion this may cause and appreciate your understanding. If there is any way to update my original post with this information, that would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, please consider this information as part of my initial request.

    Thank you for your assistance!

    Hi @petruska1,

Thank you for reaching out! Wordfence blocks are triggered by hitting URLs like?example[.]com/wp-admin/install.php,?which in return generates?the “blocked by firewall for WordPress New Install File Probing” reason in your?Live Traffic.

If your site is redirecting all visitors to install.php, there may be an issue with your site or database configuration. For example, if WordPress can access the database but can’t find the WordPress tables, it will attempt to create a new installation. The Wordfence block prevents an unintended reinstallation, but you’ll need to review your site or work with your host to ensure the site is working normally.

If needed, you can temporarily deactivate Wordfence by doing the following:

    • Please use FTP/SFTP — or any file manager your web host provides via their administration panel.
    • Look inside the /wp-content/plugins/ directory and rename the wordfence directory to wordfence.bak.
    • Once you have logged in to your WordPress admin you can name the folder back to wordfence again.
    • Refresh your dashboard and you should be able to see Wordfence Active again. If not, go to the Plugins page and Activate it.

Please be careful if you deactivate Wordfence, because if the site is having any issues, your visitors may see an installation page and be able to start a new installation of WordPress.

    Thanks,
    Margaret
