Assigning & displaying an image for each tag

Hey guys,

My first post so I hope I am putting this in the right place.

This is what I’m trying to achieve…

I want to assign an image to each tag used throughout my site and display that image on the tag results page. (i.e. https://www.mywebsite.com/tag/apple)

So for example… I want to assign an image of an apple to the text tag “apple” and then display that image at the top of the tag results page, how would I go about doing that?

I know this is something that is going to require some modding but although I know my way around wordpress pretty well I’ve only recently started using tags so any pointers or suggestions that you could offer would be fantastic.
