Assign user to a default group

Is it possible to assign users to a default group? By default currently the user is not assigned to any group and the only way to assign a user to a group is to allow then user to assign themselves during setup.

It would be useful to set a group as a default group to which all users are assigned by default.

Please add this a feature request if it is not already possible to do this.
