Assign membership level while buddypress user registration

You should be able to assign a level upon sign up with the following code and adjust it slightly for BuddyPress user registration – https://gist.github.com/strangerstudios/5703500#file-pmpro_cancelled_level-php

The theory behind the code, check if the user does not have a membership level with pmpro, if they don’t assign them one with pmpro_changeMembershipLevel($level_id, $user_id);

I believe the correct hook for BuddyPress user registration is bp_core_signup_user, you may follow up with BuddyPress to find out if this is correct.
