• I’m sure this plugin is fine when we get the Pro version, but folders don’t appear when selecting an image or file from a post or page in the free version, making it fairly useless.

Also showing a giant block asking to leave a review on every page in admin (even other plugins and the plugin list itself) is super-obnoxious and shouldn’t be a blockable offense in WordPress admin.

    Dave,

Sorry about the the behavior on the ask. It’s supposed to be only show once and go away when you click ‘X’ or no thanks and not come back again.

I’ll let Alan chime in on how useful people find the free version because they do. Think about a 3 or 4 star because 1 stars are super damaging to plugin makers.

Calling the plugin useless would be an misstatement. Media Library Folders lets you do following things which one cannot do in the media library:

-create your own folders and sub-folders
-move files and automatically update their links in posts and pages
    -copy files
-rename a file and automatically update its links in posts and pages
-regenerate one or multiple thumbnail images.
-add files from server using the sync function

As for the notice added to the dashboard, it can be removed by clicking one of the links that Bob mentioned.

I thought I was leaving a review based on an obnoxious prompt on every page of wp-admin, not a forum post.

My “useless” comment came from the fact that the plugin is advertised as having folders yet those folders only exist in the Media section not while choosing or uploading an image or file in a Page or Post.

The Pro version however does that, but that’s not what advertised for a review in our wp-admin on almost every page there.

When we get the Pro version, feel free to spam us there as well and I’ll also leave an accurate review for it.

@maxfoundry, If you are relying on the WordPress review system to generate sales leads then you are ignoring the man in the lookout yelling “ICEBERG!”. You are making a Titanic class business mistake if those reviews are part of your business plan.

@anevins thanks for the note about the reviews and for your comments on our boards. We appreciate your work on the plugin forums.

Reviews are not a part of our business plan. We learn a ton about all 8 of our active plugins from reviews and support which is nice. We do take a lot of pride in our plugins and I don’t think anyone who works super hard on making a great product would feel any different. We do always get a jump in our step from the good ones.

I have a particular personal desire to let reviewers know how damaging 1 star reviews can be to a plugin maker. If I should not do that I won’t but many times 1 star reviews get fixed through the subsequent support tickets where people need a bit of help. And we give support. So I would say half the time it is that. Most of the rest are feature requests or bugs which we jump on. So I just ask people to consider their rating, it’s impact and let us know if there is something we can fix.

    Best,

    Bob
