• Hi,
I am on another WP Site, I am asked to log in to comment (it seems there is NO other way for ANYONE to comment BTW) so, I use my log info and it keeps telling my login name is non existent(?!?!)
Which i know is not true since I use the SAME to log into MY WP site & here for that matter.
I write the owner of the site letting her know its doing this to me when I try to comment (which seems odd) So, is this a normal thing or do I need to write WP directly because its rather worrying it says my valid name IS invalid.

  • Your username and password for one WordPress site does not apply to any other WordPress site. You need to sign up in order to comment on a site that belongs to someone else (assuming they allow user registration).

If you came to one of my sites for example, and wanted to comment on one of my topics, your username and password for your site – or any other WordPress site you may have signed up on – mean nothing to my domain. They are not connected in any way.

Which i know is not true since I use the SAME to log into MY WP site & here for that matter.

It may not be a good idea to use the same username and password across multiple sites.

www.remarpro.com self hosted sites each can (and should) have unique usernames and passwords. Based on admin settings, comments can be open, closed or require login. To login you must register. Registration can be moderated.

Oh, and never use the same passwords for multiple sites. That is a security no no.

Thank you both for the advice and info. I was being lazy trying to make it easy to remember. You’re absolutely correct I need to switch up the passwords and names for diff WP sites. i wrote the owner of the site to see whats going on. She has no comments at all, maybe she wants it like that, or has no clue its happening.
Thank you again for easing my mind.

Have you set up an account on the WP site that you’re trying to log into? If not, that’s your problem. You must set up an account on every separate site. That’s because each separate is well.. separate.

If you have already set up an account go to the ‘Reset my password’ link. That’s all it takes.
