I tried installing the AskApache plugin to increase my security, and this plugin has totally locked me out of the admin panel of my site. I have no idea how to undo the work of this plugin. I thought I could remove some lines of code from my .htaccess files (that the plugin supposedly added) and then delete the plugin. First of all, there weren’t any new lines of code in my .htaccess files. And deleting the plugin does no good. Still gives me 500 errors.

    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Use FTP to delete the plugin doesn’t work? Than have a look at the htaccess of each folder, since Ask Apache creates more of them.

Oh, I didn’t realize there was a new .htaccess file inside the wp-admin folder. When I removed that, I could then log back in and deactivate and then delete the plugin. I had been playing around with the wrong .htaccess files. Thanks a bunch.
