How can I create an aside in TT3?

  • If you mean a sidebar, that’s done with a template column.

If you mean a text box, there’s no “aside” tag permitted in WordPress, as far as I can see. I typically add a Columns block to the content section for a page, fill the right column with the “aside” text, and then select paragraphs or other blocks to fill the balancing column. The rest of the content flows after the Columns block.

    Not much help, I’m afraid.

    Hi Jim,

“Asides” were Post formats. These were meant to capture short text akin to thoughts, flights of fancy or verbal whims that did not warrant a Post or a Page but could be created quickly and inserted into the timeline.

Here is a link to the Post Format

I do appreciate that you took the time to respond though.

    I learned something.

As noted, too, “If you don’t see the Post Format module, then you are likely using a theme that does not use post formats.”

TT3 is pretty simple. I’m not surprised.

    Good hunting.

Hi @vlbooth – I realize you may have already found a workaround by now, but I just answered another question about post formats in Twenty Twenty-Three so thought I’d share that reply here in case you want to try out that route.

I’ll mark this thread as resolved, but do let me know if you have any questions about the custom template approach.

    Thanks for sharing!
