How do users create new topics? I don’t see a topic form like this or an add topic button. I have my categories laid out, but no way to start topics in them.

Hello @ezingers

New topics can get created in the frontend (not the backend) by logged-in users. They have to visit the page which contains your forum-shortcode, so you have to make it accessable via your menu first. Inside of topics there is a new button which allows you to create a new topic, see the following image:
