As a UX designer, Gutenburg is not ready
-
As a professional product/ux designer working for a large e-commerce platform myself – I am here to tell you Gutenburg is not user friendly or ready for anything but a beta. I’m also a longtime wordpress theme developer and front-end developer. WordPress, look at these negative reviews – listen to your users, the design is not meeting the needs of what users are trying to achieve. While I appreciate the need and desire to modernize it, it’s hard to use. A basic principle of UX – don’t make anything important more than two clicks away you guys are really stretching that concept. I really don’t understand the decision for “add block” to have all of the accordions with that many options organized the way they are…and why is a button a block? I tried adding a button, it didn’t work right so I gave up and turned on the code editor and hand-coded. While this design may look pretty, if people are having a hard time using it then what is the point? Things that were once simple to do in the WordPress editor now appear to have lost their common sense to try and be too fancy.
