I am working with a client who uses the Blubrry PowerPress plugin. She is interested in changing some features of her iTunes podcast page. I have tested and can see how to change all elements (and all work properly) except the image. First I uploaded a new 3000×3000 jpg image as recommended (with a new, separate file name). Then under the Artwork and Images tab, I then chose the “upload new image” checkbox and added that image path (and checked “also use as rss image”. The setting to use this image for the itunes episode image was already checked.
I saved it and it said it should appear in 24 hours. It has been 48 hours and the old image is still there, not the new one. Does anyone know how to get this image to update? Is there some other trick? Thanks for the help.

The show’s Apple Podcasts listing is working off of this podcast RSS feed:
    https://www.contagiouscompanies.com/feed/podcast

Which is linking to this image file:
    https://www.contagiouscompanies.com/wp-content/uploads/powerpress/CC-MM_itunes.jpg

The file appears to conform to Apple’s spec, so I’m not sure why it isn’t refreshing in the show’s public listing in the Apple directory.

One thing to try is to log in to Apple’s Podcasts Connect portal and request a refresh of the listing from there. It may still take up to 24 hours for the listing to refresh after that.

    Thank you Shawn.

I have requested a refresh on that. After 24 hours if that doesn’t show, any suggestions?

If it still hasn’t updated after that, post here again and we’ll take another look at it.

    Hello @jhigginshmg,

I see a different issue with your feed. It currently appears to be minified. This typically happens by software that is designed to compress text in a page by removing extra tags, spaces, etc… It is common to see this with web pages for performance, but it is not advisable to use this for feeds as it removes the new lines and formatting to display in podcast apps including the iOS podcast app. What ever application or plugin you are using to minify your feed, please turn this off. Leaving this as you have it may cause issues for Apple to properly parse the podcast feed.

    Thanks,
    Angelo

Thanks – appreciate it. I actually put a ticket in on the connect site since it still didn’t update. Will see if they have any words of wisdom.

    Angelo,
Thank you for the reply. There is a Fast Velocity Minify plugin. I am looking into how I can prevent that from minifying the RSS feed. Appreciate the feedback.

    Shawn,
Apple help said the image was the wrong size and that is why it wasn’t showing up, even though the Powerpress site and Apple site said 3000×3000 was the size. I am trying a smaller one (1400×1400) to see if that makes a difference.

    We’ll see.

To close the loop – Apple processed my ticket and fixed.. didn’t tell me how but for some reason it wasn’t update.. all set now!

Thanks for the update. Glad to see everything’s working now!

If you’ve found the support we’ve provided here to be of value, please consider leaving a review for PowerPress.

These reviews help us with future development of the plugin, and we’d really appreciate it!
