Articles, when download, hangs at either photo and/or Youtube videos

  • Hi, I run a small website, Songsimian.com, where each article is around 350K to 500K with about 30 requests each (according to GTMetrix.com). Lately, I’ve noticed sometimes, an article would just hang–stop loading or takes forever to load–especially stopping at the photo and/or embedded Youtube videos.

    For example, here’s a missing photo (which sometimes never pop up):

    Most of the articles load correctly, but around every 10-20 articles, one hangs (and the articles are always random [i.e., nothing particular about each article that’s causing the issue]).

    The hanging is not because of server load since these articles are small (according to Bluehost Chat Support), and when I test, I always open one only after another has fully loaded.

    GTMetrix and Pindom Website Speed Tests back up my experience with these hanging articles. For example, this article ([ redundant link removed ]) loads at totally different types depending whether it hangs out or not:

    I’ve tried everything I can think of to solve this issue, including 2 calls to Bluehost (my hosting server). The actions I’ve taken, which don’t work, are:

    1) Deactivated all plugins to make sure it’s not a plugin or caching problem.

    2) Increased max connections. Bluehost rep: “I have updated the Following fields:
    max_execution_time, max_input_time, memory_limit, post_max_size, upload_max_filesize.”

    3) Changed themes, including to the standard Twenty Twenty.

    4) Paid special attention to both the error_log and debug_log to notice anything untoward.

    5) Tried different computers and browsers. Chrome, Firefox, my desktop, my laptop (different WIFI providers), German-based VPS, and even my developer’s Indian-based computer. All the same.

    Nothing seems to work, and it’s driving me nuts. Can someone help? Thanks!

  • Did you fix it? I can see the images and embedded videos just fine. Although I see a missing jQuery error in your site.
