Articles not publishing in Apple News

    Hello,

    We’ve installed the Apple News plugin on five of our different websites. The plugin settings are configured the same way across all five sites. However, articles are only publishing automatically on two of the sites. Articles will only post if manually published for the other 3 sites, despite the plugin settings being the same.

    Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @krasnic—

    Are the users that are publishing on the other three sites administrators? In the current version of the plugin, users must have the “manage options” capability in order to publish articles, but this limitation is being fixed in the upcoming version (1.4.0) which we hope to publish in the next few weeks.

    Thank you for your reply! We’ve tested by providing one of our users with admin access and we’ve been able to publish articles successfully. So, it does appear to be a user role/privilege issue. Would you happen to have an ETA on the release date for the upcoming version (1.4.0) where this issue will be addressed?

    I don’t have a specific ETA, but it will be soon. We’re working on wrapping up the final changes now.

    It is not a good idea to only allow publishing for admin role users.

    Everything you read about WordPress recommends NOT logging in as an admin to publish. That’s what the editor and author roles are for–to help keep sites secure.

    And on sites with many authors and editors who publish daily, they absolutely should not have admin level access in order to publish.

    What is the solution to getting our published posts getting on Apple News without giving everyone admin access?

    We’ve got over 2,600 posts published on Apple News but none of them are there.

    Hi @anotheropus—

    This was fixed in version 1.4.0 of the plugin, which was released in June.
