    As you can see in the source code article:author is not being set, even though I used “Facebook URL (default)” under “General Settings” -> “Authorship”. As I understood it, this setting should set the article:author to the same value it is setting article:publisher. I also think this is just a bug and not supposed to be like this, even in the free version. I’ll glady buy the pro version if you fix this.

    Have you read the Setup Guide? Have a look at the “Author Social Accounts (Optional)” section. ??

    It would still be nice if the the authorship could default to the page URL when there is no URL set in the profile of the author. There are many pages that just put the page URL into the article:author when the articles aren’t written by a single author. I’d like to do that for every post of ours, because the individual authors don’t matter much for our page.

    By the way, putting a page URL into my profile doesn’t work. Still no article:author to be seen in the source.

    Don’t worry, found the mistake.
    Would still be cool if there was an option to default to the facebook page of the webiste when an author doesn’t input their own page. Thanks for the quick answer. ??

    <!-- article:author:1 --><meta property="article:author" content="https://www.facebook.com/PiratenRheinErft/"/>

    The article:author meta tag value is for the URL of Facebook users, not Facebook Pages – this is a Facebook requirement.

    If that was really a Facebook requirement, why would they allow pages in there? It’s allowed because many authors separate their page and their private profile, for example because there are more features for creating posts and analysing them when using a page.

    This tool is not giving a warning so I’m 99% sure this is fine.

    Yes, that’s how I first discovered article:author. Pretty sure this documentation is just outdated. Their debug tools would give an error if people weren’t supposed to insert pages.

    No, it does not.
