• This plugin is awesome as the new block editor is not user friendly at all. BUT is anyone else finding that when the plugin is activated, you remain “locked” into using either the text editor or the HTML editor and cannot switch back and forth? If I deactivate the plugin, I’m able to switch back and forth within the block editor. Can anyone help please?

    Thanks,
    Doug Evans

  • Yes, I have found a similar problem. When I try to add/edit a link by clicking on the gear icon, the screen locks up, and I’m not able to “update” or “publish.”

Hope this is resolved very soon!

Same here. Can’t switch to HTML view and when I try to edit a link the scroll gets blocked.

Yes. And for me, I “lose” the row of icons for styling (bold, italics, etc)

So for the quick fix, I followed this article’s instructions on downgrading to 5.4.2. One of the options is to download the WP Downgrade plugin, but it is very easy/simple to use.

For now, this is working until 5.5 gets resolved. This issue does not seem to be a Classic Editor plugin issue.
