Transient housekeeping is now fully baked-into WordPress (as of WordPress 4.9, published back in 2017).

What do you think the future of this plugin should be? Please read my post to understand more and let me know what you think.

I’ve made the decision to push out one further, minor release, with a hard stop built-in for WordPress 4.9 – it will no longer work from this release onwards.

However, I’m working on a new plugin for users on 4.9 or higher, that will give you manual control over your transient housekeeping.

What’s the point in having a mind if you never change it?

After further consideration, I’ve decided not to stop development of the existing plugin. Version 1.6, just released, will be the last version of the current iteration, designed for WordPress 5.8 and below. Version 2 will support ALL versions of WordPress, making use of the built-in housekeeping functionality for version of WordPress after 5.8. It will be a ground-up rewrite, allowing all versions to have more control over when and how the housekeeping occurs.

    Stay tuned!
