    Hi.

    Simple question.

Are the users generated by the plugin different in ANY way to those created by WordPress the traditional way?

    I’m wondering since:
    a) There are a lot of questions in this forum asking specifically for WP-Members users.
    b) We have to create a profile page (why not just linking to /profile.php?).

Thank you for taking the time.

In general, no – users are users. Certainly there is control over what happens to those users in terms of setting a role and such, but ultimately, they are still stored in wp_users with custom fields in wp_usermeta (as a wp user).

    b) We have to create a profile page (why not just linking to /profile.php?).

That’s entirely up to you. If you want to use profile.php, you can do that. Most people want things on the front end, which is why there is a process for that.

There is no one specific way to set things up. The plugin is flexible that way. There is a default setup, but that’s not the only way to use the plugin.
