I just received these comments for moderation, but they look suspicious to me.

An open letter to the Candidates…

    nice…..

    Proposal for Public Bus forum…

    nice…..

These comments appeared at the same time, and as you can see, have the same comment. When I visited the url, it appeared that my posts had been grabbed.

I did try to do a search on the various types of spam, but to be honest, I could not understand the information. These folks (I think that this is one person) are not registered, yet managed to post a comment. Is this trackback spam, pingback spam, or comment spam? Should I just label this as spam, and go on my merry way?

    Thanks!

  • I wouldn’t let those through. They are most likely part of a scheme to raise the ratings of domains before they switch them over to actually promoting things.

I’ve noticed this type of spam comment lately, too. I had the same thing happen to me and I didn’t let it through. I couldn’t figure out what the scam was though. I didn’t know what they were gaining by copying my post onto essentially a blank page with no ads or anything. I don’t get it.

Thanks, newflesh and [b}badMike. I don’t know what his scam is, either, so I tagged it as spam. I am afraid that I may get some bad action from Google if this guy has actually linked to my site, rather than just snagged my posts, though I’m quite peeved about that, too.

    I wouldn’t worry about that.

I got 4 of them that aksimet caught as spam, and as a humorous side note, earlier i posted

“I’m not even sure how many people read this danged thing anymore. I kinda fell out of the communities I was in and haven’t seen any traffic here in a while. At least noone that comments. Ok I take that back, I have had comments for gay porn, viagra, breast implants, penis enlargements, and anti depressants and diet pills. Kinda makes me wonder if I come off as an overweight, depressed presurgical trans sexual with under developed breats and concerns about post surgical impotence and size issues.”

and within 5 minutes akismet caught a viagra spam trackback. thats my snicker for the day. But yeah thise “nice comments/trackbacks whatever are spam don’t approve them. Any time is says (one of mine for example) something like https://garage floor coverings . com it’s safe to assume it’s spam even if your link is attached. unless of course you are in the garage floor covering business:P
