• Hi there, hope I’m posting this in the correct thread.

A client of mine has recently been hacked and I have noticed people trying to brute force their way into some of my sites. I think I went a bit security happy and am now running multiple security plugins (which I feel have different purposes) on my sites. Although I haven’t yet experienced any conflicts between them, I would like to get some opinions.

    I am using the following:

    – Better WP security
    – BBQ: Block Bad Queries
    – WordPress firewall 2
    – Wordfence (I feel this my not be required as better wp security but there are some features of the plugin I enjoy to use)
    – Bulletproof Security

And that’s the lot. Am I in over my head just throwing all these security plugins together or do you rate they may compliment each other? Any suggestions for other security plugins or changes in the combination? ??

  • multiple security plugins (which I feel have different purposes)

That is what I do, and I have Wordfence and Bulletproof. Where one admin might say “Too many”, another might say “Too few”. So, I do what I can to “harden WordPress”, then try to have “Just enough” add-ons (plugins) to cover the actual activity I see going on.
