I’m wondering if it’s good idea to setup 1 textdomain for front-end and another for back-end when preparing theme for localization (only few people actually want to translate admin panel).

What do you think? How do I register them with such setup?

Just keep it one textdomain. If you have two, you’ll confuse people, and make more work. If they don’t want to translate admin panels (shame on them!) they won’t.

Also don’t bump, please ?? It’s against our guidelines.

Yes, but they won’t distinguish admin panel strings from normal strings without context or separate textdomain. Many people use software like POEdit.

Are you sure about that? It still seems like a good idea.

Yes – we’re sure. The theme should only be referencing its own options pages in the back end, so there won’t be any problems with a single textdomain.
