Are images added from Media library duplicated in storage

I am trying out this plug-in. It seems that images stored in the Media library and then added to Photo Gallery are copied to another folder. Is that right – so there are two copies?

The reason I think this is that I was using this method, then deleted the photo from Media Gallery but it was still showing up.

If that is the case, is there any way this will be changed in the future? Media Library is much easier to manage photos (example – I click on upload files and that drop box is open when I open again in future, with this plug in I had to keep on remembering to click on upload files for each batch I uploaded, plus the folders can’t seem to be sorted in alphabetical order, etc)
