Just wanted to check that the files won’t be crawled by search engines, or appear in any feeds? Do I need to excluded them with robots.txt ?

No, if you have a list shown on the front of your site the files will be indexed. You can use a robots.txt to prevent this on reputable search engines.

Have you any plans to add download security? I have a leadership group that I want to provide documents to, but I don’t want these documents available to all site users. I know I can have a page for them, but as per the above note, the files are still searchable.

You can set the file list to only show to logged-in users, or admins. This is currently the only way to prevent the files from being indexed by search engines. I do plan on releasing a User Manager extension tho. With this you’ll be able to show specific files to specific users, or groups of users.

Thanks, that’s exactly what I’m looking for. Any thoughts on timescale? Really like the look of this plugin.

Hopefully this fall. I’m working on a major update to the free plugin now. Need to get that done first.

Please email me at [email protected] if you’d like to discuss the user extension further. I would be interested to hear more about your needs.
