Archives Dropdown plugin?

Hello, i’m new to wordpress and have been looking for a way to simplify the archives area.

is there a way to take the archived information and put it into a dropdown? then that way you could better conserve that space if you have years of archives.

so if you were to have a dynamic list of archives like this for example and put that data into a dropdown:

June 2008 (19)

April 2008 (15)

i haven’t found a plugin to do this but i think it would be a good idea. any ideas?
