Archives Dropdown Not Indexed by Search Engines

  • Over time, the default archives widget gets to be very long. Handy to have the Display as Dropdown feature. However, as a dropdown, the links are changed to select options. Since they no longer have anchor tags (<a href=), they are no longer indexed. Is there a work around for this?

    You could contain the list of links inside a scrolling limited size container. A bit of HTML and CSS would do it. I don’t have an example readily available, but it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out or locate an example. It doesn’t need to be WP specific.
