• OK, I am new to WordPress, and I may be missing something, but I cannot find a way to link to archives, or how to have them set.
I basically want my news articles on an articles page, I have 6 news articles displayed on my front page and want all other articles from that category to go into an archives page, which my users can view.
From there I want it so that it shows 10 on a page, then has page numbers to go to the next 10 etc, I have read alot about people using archives, but can’t find a hack or plugin for it, so believe it must be there already I just can’t see it.
    Thankyou in advance.

  • Ammonia,
I *think* you might be looking for “Nicer Archives.” You can search for that here, or check out https://weblogtoolscollection.com for that and other plugins.

cheers got it, now just working out how to only display something from one category, if anyone could point me in a direciton that would be great.

    Ammonia,
    I think you’ll find that at https://wiki.www.remarpro.com

if you are referring to hacks like this:
“Show one category on your front page”
then I have already tried all these (as I also want only News to show in index.php) but they don’t work, I think the reason it doesn’t work is because, they all say to go to:
Options > Other Options > what_to_show. Set it to “posts paged”.
And I dont have a section called “other options” and cant find the what_t0_show entry anywhere, so am stuck.
