Archive to CD

  • Is there a way to archive an entire WordPress blog to a CD so it can be navigated offline?

    Does the statisize plugin do this?

  • Your best bet is to use Xampp to work offline.
    Or for a really slow experience, a usb stick.

    I’m not interested in working on the blog offline, just permanently archiving it. Ideally, it could be distributed and navigatable right off the CD without WordPress being insalled. i.e. just static HTML files.

    Only way I see your “ideal” happening would be to get yourself a web whacker type program (wget would work as an example) and aiming it at your blog and letting it generate all the pages. Put THAT on the CD.

    Yeah, due to how WordPress works, you can’t do that. You can back up the database and that kinda stuff, but you can’t really run a static version of it.

    Only a “snapshot” like HandySolo suggested would probably work.
