I think this has been fixed in the latest available Customizr version.
Maybe you want update your theme.
It will show:
“Archives: activities” or “Archives: Activities” it depends on how you called that custom taxonomy.

Updated and I now have a title – thanks!

Any idea how I just get it to display “Activities” rather than “Archives: Activities” though?

Mmm not without a child-theme.
That is the standard wordpress way to show those type of titles.
So to change it you need to use a simple filter.
You should add the following to your child-theme functions.php:

add_filter('tc_tax_archive_title', 'remove_archive_title');
function remove_archive_title( $title ){
  if ( is_post_type_archive() )
    return post_type_archive_title( '', false );
  return $title;
}
