Archive old site

  • I’m looking to archive my current site into a root /archive and then start with a new design on the root of my site.

    What is the easiest way to accomplish this? I’d like the archive to just be able to sit there and continue to be accessed (pretty permalinks work with it..) and then build the new site out.

    Is this an application for Multisite? Do I need to go through the steps to move wordpress to a different directory?

    Yes, that’s the best way to do that.

    Then once you’ve moved it and everything works well, you can install a new WordPress installation in your root folder. This new installation, will need it’s own database and set of files.

    I’m not sure now, as I’ve never moved a multi site.
